CE marking

Since October 1, 2003, products must carry the CE certification marking in order to circulate throughout Europe. This is a crucial requirement for products that meet this European directive.

The CE marking represents regulatory conformity. These products meet requirements that address issues of security, public health, and consumer protection. The certificates given with this marking are overseen by AFNOR certification.
Thus, Thirard company must comply with the Construction Products Regulation (Regulation No 305/2011 (Construction Products Regulation) of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011). The Declarations of Performance are available at www.thirard.fr.
The CE marking is easily identifiable as used in the following way: CE logo + n° of the certifying body.
The marking is found either on the product itself, on the packaging, or within the product’s accompanying documents.

A2P Certification

The CNPP (National Centre for Protection and Prevention), located near Vernon in the department of Eure, is the only accredited organisation authorized to issue A2P product certification. In response to an increase in thefts and break-ins over the last several years, insurance companies are encouraging clients to install effective security systems. This is why the CNPP also issues Service certifications for the installation and maintenance of security systems related to fire and criminal activity (APSAD and A2P Service certifications). The A2P mark is a collective mark that conforms to a certification recognised by several different types of bodies: insurance companies, public authorities, users, and security professionals. Earning the A2P certification is a process that the manufacturer undertakes voluntarily. According to the H61 standard available at www.cnpp.com.

What is the A2P certification?

First and foremost, it is a security product certification related to protection against forced entry.
The A2P mark certifies that products to which it is applied meet certain technical specifications and come from a manufacturer whose quality is monitored and controlled.

What do the certified essential features mean?
The essential certified features of building locks that are stamped with the A2P mark lie in their ability to stand up to unauthorised entry attempts over a specifc time period, to the attempts of a person attempting to enter a property using their physical force or a list of tools (hand, electrical, or thermal tools), and also in the ability of the lock to stand up to more subtle entry attempts.

Where do the tests take place?
The tests are carried out in CNPP laboratories. In addition to the tests, manufacturers are also subjected to annual audits within their companies. Each manufactured product must be entirely consistent with the model certified by the A2P stamp.

What do the different stars awarded by the A2P Building Locks certification represent?
There are several different classifications related to a product’s resistance to break-in attempts when subjected to increasingly rigorous testing. In relation to their increasing ability to stand up to non-authorised entry attempts, the locks, including their security, are classed under three categories: 1, 2, or 3 stars, the resistance having been assessed according to specific criteria determined by technical rules and testing methods.

How can you recognise a product that has received the A2P certification?
The first guarantee that the product is genuinely A2P certified is that each of its components has been permanently stamped with the A2P mark. If one of the elements is modified, that A2P certification is automatically void. An informative label including, among other things, the A2P logo and the product classification, is also affixed to the product packaging as it leaves the factory.

As part of its commitment to the environment, Thirard is gradually rolling out FSC labels and «imprim’vert».
