CHOOSE YOUR FERCO DOOR LOCK BY THIRARD

Ferco locks are often chosen for renovation projects, when one wants to replace a defective existing FERCO lock without having to change the entire door.

7 elements are to be taken into account in order to choose the right model:

-The door type
-The number of anchor points
-The backset and the centre spacing of your lock
-The length and width of the faceplate
-The square spindle size

To help you, THIRARD recommends to fill out a reference page that will allow you to find the right model at your retailer. Fill out the form and give it to the store consultant.

1. DOOR TYPE

Ferco by Thirard offers multipoint mortise locks depending on the door type: wood or PVC/Aluminium

2. NUMBER OF ANCHOR POINTS

Typical Ferco locks have 3 or 5 anchor points
If the latch bolt gets blocked along with other bolts when the door is locked, then this is also considered as an anchor point (Decena model for example)

N.B.: The latchbolt is a bevelled metal part that keeps the door closed

3. BACKSET OF THE LOCK

The backset corresponds to the distance between the outer edge of the faceplate and the central axis of the cylinder’s key hole.

This backset is either 35 mm, or 40 mm, or 50 mm

4. CENTRE SPACING OF THE LOCK

The centre spacing is the distance between the central axis of the square spindle of the handle and the central axis of the cylinder.

The centre spacing is either 70 mm or 92 mm

5. FACEPLATE LENGTH

The faceplate of a multipoint Ferco lock is the covering plate of the lock that covers the door flange and guides or lets the bolts through. This length is either 1800 mm, or 2150mm, or 2285 mm

6. FACEPLATE WIDTH

The width of the faceplate is either 16 mm or 18 mm. It is important to know this dimension to avoid trimming the door or filling any holes in it.

7. SQUARE SPINDLE SIZE

Whether you retain your old handles or you wish to have new ones, it is always better to know the handle’s square spindle dimension. This will allow you to choose the right lock model depending on your old handle should you decide to keep it, or else to choose the right model for your new handle according to your lock.
