ALIGNMENT OF YOUR DOOR: MORTISE LOCK, CYLINDER AND HANDLE
Recommendations:
When you install a new cylinder in a mortise lock with handles, take care to align it along its axis. Make sure also that your lock is correctly positioned. Otherwise, the locking mechanism of the cylinder will be sticking. In fact, when your door is misaligned, you end up forcing the handle. When the handle is forced, repeated locking-unlocking may cause wear of the lock or the handle. It is very rare that this is due to a manufacturing defect in the cylinder, and often there is no need to return it to the manufacturer.
To check the alignment of your lock assembly in the door:
Dismantle your lock assembly from the door.Check that the lock mechanism is not damaged, especially regarding the passage of the square spindle of your handle and the cylinder hole.Use the key to check also that the cylinder works well. If this is the case, the manufacturer will not be liable and will return your cylinder back to you
