HOW TO FLIP THE LATCHBOLT TO REPOSITION IT IN THE RIGHT ORIENTATION
Nowadays, most mortise locks are manufactured with a reversible latchbolt, which allows to install the lock either left or right.
NOTE: Somelock models can be sold right orleft, which allows to indicatethe positioning of the bolt at the time of purchase and thus facilitates theinstallation of many locks. It is easier to install your lock if you do nothave to flip the latchbolt at the time of installation.
To find out the direction of your lock, watch your door from the side of the hinges.
– If the hinges are on the left, then your lock is right
– If the hinges are on the right, then your lock is left
